How do I refund money via Camping.care Payments?

When you’re using Camping.care Payments as your payment provider, it’s easy to refund a payment.

The refund process

Online payments are added to the invoice as “Starfish E-Commerce” payments. If you use a payment terminal, those are added as “Starfish In Person” payments.

To start the refund, simply click on the payment itself:

Don’t click on the “add payment” button. Adding a manual negative payment doesn’t actually refund the payment:

After clicking on the payment, a new menu pops up and shows payment details. At the top of the menu is a tab “refund”:

There you can select the amount you want to refund and the reason why. Then click on “request refund” and we’ll automatically add the refund to the invoice and send the money back to the original payment method.

Good to know

  • Refunds can only be done by the user account that started the onboarding process with Adyen. Other users will see the message that “You don’t have rights to make a refund”.
  • You can only refund a maximum amount of the original payment. When you accidentally refund an amount twice, the second refund won’t be processed. There will be a negative amount added to the invoice, but we’ll also add another positive payment to make sure the payment amounts are correct.
  • Most refunds arrive within a few days, but in rare cases it can take up to a few weeks. So a guest might have to be patient in some cases.
